An airliner carrying 153 people crashed on Sunday, June 3, in a residential neighborhood in Lagos, Nigeria's most populated city. There were no survivors.
Surprised this wasn't mentioned on RFD yet. And I don't mean to sound rude but does a shooting at a mall killing 1 give out more of an impact than 153 people on a plane plunging to their death instantly? Or is it because it's close to home?
/me wonders...

OP you should add "in Nigeria" to your title.
You make it seem like it happened right here.

My thoughts too. It's strange that out of all the boards I visit, RFD is the only one that never fails to report on every single macabre thing that happens around the world. If someone dies horribly, RFD always has the scoop. I sometimes wonder if "caring about" shouldn't be changed to "reveling in" or "fixating on".

people should be dying from cancer or gun shot wounds
not by things made to fly people around

Good point- Every life should be acknowledged with significance. Not to make light of this but when most people shop the last thing on their mind is dodging bullets. And shopping is the main point of RFD. Then again people don't usually expect an aircraft to come crashing over their town either. People can be selfish, if it's close to home they feel more affected by it and look for support within their community. But we really should try to connect more to the global community.

I heard about this crash because I got an e-mail. Apparently former Nigerian price Dikembe Mutumbo was on board the plane and has unfortunately passed away in this tragedy. The e-mail said though that he has decided to leave me his vast fortune (somewhere just above $50 million), and all I have to do is pay the Nigerian taxes and duties to transfer ownership of the accounts to my name. I am going to my local bank branch today to wire the money over to Nigeria.
