It's an amazing series that should be seen in either HD or SD. The cinematography is excellent. The HD DVD set is coming out next month.

Planet Earth in HD

Has anyone seen this? I don't have HD but I still wouldn't mind checking this show out. Is it still worth watching if I don't have HD?

Mar 27th, 2007 03:14 PM #3Not good. They should not put a levy education. The BBC has consistently put out quality documentaries. I will surely buy this set when it comes out.Why is content available to UK residents only?
Broadband content is expensive for the BBC to stream. The BBC has therefore decided to limit access to the BBC broadband content to people in the UK in order to ensure best value for the UK licence fee. In addition, there are often broadcast rights restrictions which means that content intended for a UK audience should not be made available overseas.
Regrettably we are therefore unable to offer you broadband content at this time. We would like to apologise for any disappointment. You could, however, refer to the BBC World Service and to other BBC associated international services (e.g.

Amazing documentary...it took over 2000 hours of shooting to complete. Quite possibly one of the best documentaries we'll ever see of our planet.

Amazon doesn't charge until it actually ships.
Beware though if you order one of the high-def versions. They don't come with any of the special features that the regular DVD version does, including 110 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage & Planet Earth: The Future, a 150-minute companion series.
This series is currently airing on the U.S. Discovery Channel (narrated by Sigourney Weaver instead of Richard Attenborough although the DVD version will be by Attenborough). It aired on CBC & CBC Newsworld back in January and won't be airing on our Discovery Channel.
The various trailers are up on YouTube (just type in "discovery planet earth") and they are awesome (the great white shark leaping into the air to capture its prey is jaw-dropping). I can't wait to get the DVD next month.Last edited by Talamasca; Mar 27th, 2007 at 06:55 PM.

I believe CBC showed some (or perhaps all) of the series on sundays. It was also shown on CBC's HD channel as well..but didnt really notice if it was broadcasted in HD quality on the HD channel.

I watched all these episodes, each one is uhhh, greater than the other, IN AN EQUAL WAY (its just that damn good). The footage in this series is amazing and worth definitely worth watching, even if you dont have HD [like me]. I found myself constantly rewinding and pausing/slow motioning parts because some scenes are just overwhelming (especially the aerial views!!!). Each scene in this series is amazing. I HIGHLY recommend you, or anyone interested, to watch it.
AND, its even more amazing after a few tokes
