Playstation 3: worth the $$$ on launch day?

just wondering what everyone thinks about the ps3... is it really worth the $750 CAN for the 60gig (after taxes)?

when could we anticipate a possible price drop?

i pre-ordered one and am having second thoughts about keeping it or not...

anyone here think it'll sell really well on ebay just like the x-box360 did?

As for a price drop maybe in in a year more likely 2-3.Is it worth it i think its a great system i am no interest in buying one.For me i am getting the wii,360 hd dvd,zune player that what i am getting witch comes to $800.It all depends what you want and how much you will use it.They will sell on ebay like hot cakes.

i ordered the unit in april at toys r us before even knowing how much it was going to cost...

i'm having second thoughts now for several reasons... #1 it's pretty expensive, #2 i don't even have a TV that can display HD (i do have a projector though)

plus my brother also ordered one and he's for sure keeping it so i could always borrow his

I chose the 360, the upcoming HD-DVD drive and a few games over the PS3. Other than Lair, none of the exclusives for Sony's new box have really impressed me...

Had some friends come over. They've had PS2 ever since it came out and bought tonnes of games @ full price ($50 - $70 each).

They can't find any difference in the games. It plays the same as their $300+ PS2 & $60 game.

Now, if you're the type that must have the latest & greatest to show off, then you'll have to pay the price.

I don't need to show off. So I'm going to wait until PS4 comes out and then order PS3 & games for a fraction of the price over ebay.

As much as I LOVE YOU for your avatar against Chan Sui Bian, I'm going to have to say, my friend, you're kind of sad. Getting a PS2 now, yes, you get great value for it, but wait... I can't beat mission X in Game XYZ... ask friends.. Oh, I beat that game long time ago, can't remember how to beat it no more, or, what? You're still playing that old game? Talk about being laughed at.

Also, for most of us, how in the world can you wait so long for a game that you LOVE? For me, that's Final Fantasy, hense, I won't get a PS3 for myself (for eBay is another story) until FFXIII is out, and give it a month or two to find the best sale price for it, then I must get it and play.

If you wait another 5 years, you'll probably see PS2 for $100 with 400 games. Heck, why don't you just get a PSOne on eBay with 10 Million games and 5000 controllers for $50? That's value for you.

Why are you using a computer? Why do you have a TV? Why not just stick to newspaper for news? Your 29" CRT at home only costs like $100 on eBay, and you probably spent $1000 for it 10 years ago.

Dont forget you can buy a Pentium 3 computer for $100. I mean its as slow as the Pentium 3 computer that some guy bought for $2,000. If you ask him he will say that its no different the $100 p3 pc plays the same game, run the same program as as the $2,00 p3 bought 5 years ago. Why go with the latest and greatest, right?

Oh yeah you can buy those games and software for like $10 or less. I mean why pay for a $50 game.

i think there are few decent launch titles coming out.... the new tony hawk game and call of duty 3 are 2 i'd pick up right away
