Playstation PS3 YLOD Fix Scam
So my PS3 got the YLOD a few weeks ago, find this guy on craiglist located in some high end condo complex:

Can't remember what the guy's name i was but he looked like middle-eastern. So I drop off my ps3 and waited for an hour, he called my cell and told me that the YLOD had been fixed however my blueray drive is having trouble reading disc. And it will cost me an extra $100 for a new drive or $55 for a refurbish one, he tried hard to talk me into spending the extra cash, telling me the ps3 I had is one of the best version blah...blah...blah. At this point I pretty much knew that he is a scammer, I told him to forget about it because it only cost $199 for a new one. Got my ps3 back no YLOD but I am 100% sure he busted my drive or replaced mine with a defective one. After I got the YLOD I was able to eject the game out of the drive and now the drive won't take any disc in at all, somehow I think the arm broke or something.
Anyway I brought a new ps3 and had my lesson learned for $50, anyone of you decided to let this guy to perform work on your game console or iphone might need to think twice about it.Last edited by oranr; Feb 14th, 2012 at 10:15 AM.

Perhaps he swapped your PS3 altogether? Do you know for sure the PS3 you got back was the original one you gave to him?

Jan 22nd, 2012 09:43 AM #13doesn't matter because when I gave him the system it can eject the disk out, when i get it back it doesn't eject or take any disc anymore, when he was on the phone he said my bluyray len is dim, but he never say it wouldnt take any disc. Also he is trying to persuade me to spend another $110+50 to replace the drive while it only cost $199 to buy a new one from wal mart at that time. I just don't think there is any need to call him for the $50, my time is worth more than that. Originally Posted by Andro

It's also really shady to be advertising that this work is being done by professional engineers.
You can't advertise/offer engineering services to the public without a certificate of authorization and insurance. To imply that the work of engineers is benefiting this operation is really questionable.
Not to mention that this guy is listed as an engineer-in-training in the PEO directory. I don't know who the "professional engineer" is, but it isn't him...LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked D_J_M for this post.

nothing about this seems shady. nothing. he fixed the YLOD and found another issue, and the OP blames him for breaking it. So maybe all you little internet detectives with your mad google skills should just relax and let this guy be while the 14 year old OP cools off.
