so one of the lug nuts on my wheel was overtorqued wayyyy too much...and now it doesnt want to come off at all, it is also stripped, and the top portion of it is slightly chiseled off, so a regular socket wont fit over it...does anyone have any solutions to this problem, or know if its possible to just break the lug nut off with perhaps an air chisel or something?

also, does anyone know of a store that does this..and price? thanks!

Many garages have special tools to loosen old nuts. Just go to your mechanic buddy (but not to CTire/Walmart/dealership etc.).

I disagree with not going to Canadian Tire. If there was ever a place that should know how to fix screwups... especially on wheels and tires.....that is the place LOL.

I broke my wheel-stud before, and depending on what kind of car, it can be quite difficult to remove it. Mine was quite easy, the difficult part is to find the stud (CA Tire doesn't carry the right one)

To take the nut off, can't just just hammer the socket (or the X-key)?

you can try using the veichles weight to loosen it. or find a long piece of pipe and use it as a cheater bar.

unfortunately not, because theres a part thats chiseled out on the lugnut, so the socket wont fit over top of it since it isnt 'round' anymore

i went back to the Mazda Dealership,
i broke one of the studs when i tried to replace my wheels....
cuz my winters were installled by a garage (dumb idea),
and knowin' they over torqued w/ a gun....


i was chaged $65 parts/labour...however, that was after 17% discount...

65$, thats hell expensive to fix and replace a nut...
