Please HELP: Infinity G35 coupe or Nissan 350z?
Hey all,
I'm about to purchase a car within the next 2 weeks, and have decided on 2 particular vehicles. Either a 2003 Infinity G35 coupe w/ sports pkg or a 2003 Nissan 350z performance. The price range and km's are around the same and I dont have to worry about the insurance and such. Right now, I'm debating whether I should get G35 or 350z. Personally, I like the 350z more, but it's a 2-seater, which is not as practical. So please give me some feedbacks or opinions on each car and which car you would prefer and such, thanks alot!
Mike

the G35 (according to your choices) will be a 2-seater as well.

the G35 coupe has backseats, so the car fits 4 ppl.

G35 has 4 seats while 350Z only has 2 seats
Remember to check the brake of the G35 when you purchase it (the brake pads of G35 worn out pretty fast). It's a common problem for 2002-2004 G35. I believe 2005/6 G35 has a new brake system. Other than that, G35 is a great car with exceptional speed (real fast) and handling (I am a owner of G35 sedan). You will love it
Moreover, all infiniti comes with 4years/100,000kms bumper-to-bumper, 6years/110,000kms powertrain warranty. While Nissan only comes with 3years/60,000kms bumper-to-bumper and 5 years/100,000kms powertrain warraty.

oops nevermind... I saw the word 'impractical' and automatically applied it to all 2 door cars

What kind of horsepower does the G35 or G35x have? And is the non "X" version FWD or RWD?
Major difference btwn it and the Maxima?
Power, cost, features....etc etc.
Thanks.

the 2005 g35 has 280 hp /270 tq. The earleier ones were 260hp / 260 tq.
The 2005 6 speed has an extra 298 hp.
The g35, 350z, and maxima use all the same engine. the vq35de, a very good engine. The main difference between the g35 and maxima is the maxima is front wheel drive while the g35 is rwd. the g35x is the best of both worlds, awd.
Good look choosing the right car!

I love the G35 I would suggest that car cause its a better year round car then the 350, If you were going to go with a 2 seater, I would suggest taking a look at a RX8, IMO those are better cars then the 350, but in the end decision is up to you, you should also look at insurance prices, 2 door cars always cost more

I would definitely get the G35 for the extra seats.
I was looking at getting a two seater when I was looking to buy a car, but Im really glad I got the rear seats.
At the time I didnt think I would need the extra seats, but Ive had the car for a number of years and there are countless times where I needed to give more then 1 person a ride. You might also piss off your friends, because they might have to drive all the time because you only have a two seater.
A two seater is good for a second car, but its not practical as your only car.

The G35's suspension is a joke. It has no feel of a 'sports car'. Reconsider.... I suggest the IS 300. The budget there shouldn't be too bad.

The G35 coupe comes with sport package so I assume it should have the 'Sport-Tuned suspension'. And you can get the NISMO suspension to replace the stock suspension.

I test drove the G35 last year and aside from that I own an is300. There is just too much of a difference, the 'sport-tuned' suspension is not stiff at all, feels bouncy and loose all the time. There's no grip when making hard turns.. I was very disappointed as i was originally planning to trade in my car to purchase the G35 Coupe. Now, I'm just waiting for the new IS to drop in price.
Why replace to Nismo while you can drive stock sports suspension from Lexus

You are joking right? I sold my new 2004 IS300 w/ Sport Design II package (sport tuned springs and shocks) and now have a 2005 G35 coupe M6 Sport package. Let me tell you the G35 tuning feels 100% more sportier than the Lexus package. However Lexus quality is unbeatable, that's for sure.
Anyways to answer the original poster, ultimately it comes down to the 2 seats in the 350z or the 2+2 seats in the G. Either car you choose, both cars offer tremendous bang for the buck.

Oh btw, a common comparison between the 350z and the G35 coupe is the "350z is the younger, more athletic brother of the refined, suit-wearing g35 coupe." So take your pick

I agreee with Pete00! Z's target is younger driver than G35C. ( May be the reason of the price is little cheaper ). But you have to check the gear box if manual car! I heard someone complaint about the gearbox which is not smooth, only for 03 to 04 model!
