If you disconnect the alarm completely do you get a connection? Did you verify with your DSL provider that the line is working?
Edit: - If you disconnected the alarm (I guess that is what the voxcom box is) and it didn't change anything, my guess it that it isn't the alarm that is your problem. Is there a reason you are hesistant to call your DSL provider for tech support ? (i.e. are you getting (or suppose to be getting) service for free now or something?)

I had the same problem, the "special filter" is nothing but a normal dsl filter that you get for free from bell, (I think they may charge now). If you can't get synch that means your line isn't activated, if you get and lose synch it means you might have some other unfiltered device on your line or something wrong with the line itself. I also had a voxcom system and what I eventually found out was that they had done a terrible wiring job and that was messing with the dsl. you need to get a bell rep to come and check it out.

i had the same problem with bell dsl
alarm was freshly installed and i was told it would not be a problem . then i went and called bell told them that my connection was not up to par and they told me they would send a techie out. techie came and just my luck the day he came dsl wasnt looking after 2 hours of him trying to figure out what was wrong it ended up that the buried line from my house to the box was not a good connection and that the " second line" also was ****.
since the tech did all he could they tried to boost my rating of my line to that of extreme users connection and even then i barely had proper high speed connection
since you mentioned that you are borrowing a wifi . possibly the reason could be wifi related unless of course the computer u are are is wired to the router.
my suggestion is call up bell ( if that is your provider) go through thte routine
and when they ask if you want to troble shoot you tell them exactly what you have done before . if that dosent work request to have a guy come and check your line. if they refuse to send a guy just keep calling telling them you paid for high speed and not dsl that feels like a 56k .

thanks for the replies.
the reason I did not call ell yet is because I just moved to this place and it's all messed up...lots of boxes still to open and everyday there's something else to do...
computer ends up being left on a corner...
anyways, I tried unplugging the entire alarm system andd got no result, but I try to avoid that as everytime I do that it shows on their side that something is worng with the alarm and they think it's a burglar or something.
also, I keep delaying calling Bell because I know they will ask me those dumb questions like : did you try restarting the PC ? did you power cycle the modem ? bla bla bla...
I'll call them today for sure....cant take much longer without internet !_______________

I had this exact same problem in my condo (also with buzzer connected to phone line), I remember I got steady blinking orange light with my SpeedStream. I got transferred around and they asked me the same dumb questions. I think they made me test it like 5 times, so annoying. Anyway, it was Bell who ended up getting it fixed. Something to do with the box outside and they connected me to another one and brought it closer to my building. I think they transferred me to Bell lines for free eventhough I'm with Sprint. Awesome service. Now as for Rogers ... now that's a completely different story.
