please recommend me a set of pc speakers.
Can anybody recommend a set of pc speakers?
we have a set of x530 in the basement. They're fine.
I'm looking for a set in my room, and want them to last.
I've heard the x-5500 but only in gaming mode, sound great. Don't how it sounds with music and movies. Reviews on the net rave about low range(base, base, base) and midrange. Is the high range bad or is it decent? Seems the review's fail to comment on the high range.
I'm undecided between going for what I consider high-end 2.1 (M-audio av40) and a mid-range price (z-5500, hoping they come on sale). I don't know any high-end 5.1 pc speakers.
I don't wanna go the amp route. My dad's got a set, he can't even crank it 25% b/c family members complain, it's pretty much earth shattering.
I wanna focus on high audio clarity, with some deep base. Base is the least priority, as I usually crank the base to less than half at most.
Is the z-5300 really that inferior compared to the z-5500? in terms of clarity?
i know that the power output is half that of the z-5500.
My budget is less than $220.

I have a set of Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers that I got on sale for $99 from London Drugs. They're great sounding speakers and at $99, they were a steal.

z-5500 are the best, hands down. A friend recently bought Logitech G51 which also sound great and are half the price of z-5500.
Amazon.com reviews are very good for G51's: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G51-S...0992245&sr=8-1
Check pricecanada.com to see if there are good deals on them. I would also check http://www.kijiji.ca and http://www.craigslist.ca. There are always some good deals there after X-Mas. Cheers.

the g-51 were on sale for boxing week? for 120
I see the z-5300 still for sale for $130
I really like the z-5500 b/c of the digitial optical input, trying to hold out for a sale on it. As I plan on hooking up my ps3 into it for bluray playback.
I don't wanna buy a receiver.
Thought about 2.1 or 5.1, but thinking further down the road, I'll get my own place, so 5.1 is a better route.
I don't plan on getting a big home theater system, as I wouldn't be able to crank them past 50%.
I've read up on some older cambridge dtt2500 that have optical input, but I'm not interested in buying used. It seems that the only way to go is z-5500.
Any other suggestions?
