It is unlikely that RIM will drop the price of the playbook to $99, They are discontinuing the 16gb model to focus on the larger sizes.

With Blackberry 10 confirmed on the playbook, a price drop is very unlikely unless BB10 is a complete flop

Good luck finding any 16GB sealed boxes... you have to dig through all the returned boxes...

RIM should pull an Apple, they can sell all of them as refurbs (new and returns) that way they dont have to admit that they are a failure and should have just bowed out to Apple.

the idea isn't to firesale the 16gb stock. The remaining stock is going to ingram micro, probably to corporate clients.

The $199 price slot isn't necessarily reserved for the lowest spec of the lot, so sticking the 32gb there may not be in the books for RIM

RIM is just discontinuing the 16GB model, not a fire sale.

The only time I'd see the 16GB model drop to $99 would be if the 32/64GB models get a price cut.

So instead of canning the Playbook 1 and releasing the playbook 2 they decide to make more of the 32 and 64 GB models that cost more just so they can break even on the memory bump...

Wifi sucks, needs 3G at least. I thought RIM wanted to cater to the high end clients... high end clients have money to spend, but RIM wants to go after the bottom feeding wifi Mc.Donald leaches (who could that be?)

Anyhoo I am going out tomorrow to FS/BB/Staples/TheSource just to see if they have any NEW 16GB stock..

I've been hoping for the price to drop to $99 but it looks like it's not happening. Looks like i'm picking one up once it goes on sale, gotta support Canadian businesses (no matter how mismanaged).
