The deal is from a place called "Your Serenity"
"Your Serenity – Downtown Toronto
One or Three 60-Minute Swedish, Aromatherapy, or Shiatsu Massages"
Three massages are $90 - so $30 per each 1 hr massage. Here is the kicker. If you search Google for yourserenity, you will not get their website easily (but you will get the "deal" easily). If you go to their site directly (http://www.yourserenity.ca/), it looks pretty. If you click on "Contact" link, there is no phone number. I mean, what the hell kind of self respecting spa in downtown (of all the places) don't have a phone #? It just has a form where you fill out the details. Also, the Yelp review only has one review - and it is from last week.

The group buy site that has this deal has over 430 purchases at the point of writing. Not going to post the link since it's from a different website, but for those inclined, I am sure a google search would turn up the result.
It walks like a scam and sounds like a scam, but is it a scam? Wanted to see what you guys thought.. B/c it really is a great deal.. What are the chances..

I got one from a small place in Bloor West. It's $45 for a 1 hour session with RMT receipt. I get 90% off from work so it's sweet. It's not a swanky spa for sure. It's really their 1/2 hour rate for for an hour. Just make sure they provide a receipt and it's all good.
I bought 3 and it was a good massage. I have since been reimbursed by my health plan.

If the towels feel crusty and smells like Ajax Professional Mold Remover, it's semen. The place is sketchy. Run like hell!

I bought something similar from WagJag. Same deal, convoluted telephone numbers and mpossible to book an appointment with multiple messages not returned.
WagJag returned my money no questions asked._______________
That's the end of my rant.

Worst thing that can happen is that it ends up being an underage prostitution ring and you end up being caught up in the popo bust as a John and you have to register as a sex offender for the rest of your life.

Not a scam, but don't encourage the owners of this spa to continue their business practices. They pay their unlicensed massage therapists about $15 an hour, and book them in 6-8 hour blocks without a break. The appointments are really just 50 minutes because otherwise they don't have time to change the sheets and get ready for the next client.
I know this because I was talking to the masseuse after the session, asking her why the appointment was only 50 minutes. She sounded like she was worked like a dog, and said she didn't even have time to go to the bathroom, let alone eat. She was 5 months pregnant, and working in completely unreasonable conditions.
As for the massage itself, let me emphasize that these are not therapeutic massages in any way. The masseuse did not ask any questions about what I wanted or preferred - she just did a comprehensive massage. She said later that clients don't have a choice - they just get a 'standard' treatment and that is all.
When I tried to book again, there is never any answer, and they never return calls. The 'Book Now' feature in GroupOn only allows you to book once, which is great except for when you want to redeem your 2nd and 3rd appointments.
Which, when you think about it, is what they are banking on.

The site is mostly flash content and so it's not SEO friendly at all. That's why it's so hard to find.
