Post Pics of Your BBQ'd Food Thread

Not sure if this should be in the Photography forum or the Food forum but here goes anyways...

Since BBQ season is approaching fast (year round for some people) I thought it might be fun and inspirational, for BBQ'ing ideas, if people posted some of their BBQ'd creations.

I did this chili on my Big Green Egg last weekend. Chili had a nice smokey flavor too.

And I cooked up this spatchcocked chicken last night. It was the juiciest chicken I've ever had! I had two temperature probes because I didn't trust one of them and wanted to see if it was accurate.

I don't really follow a recipe for the chili, I just toss stuff in as I remember and I spice it up to taste. But here goes:

1lb ground chicken (or whatever other meat you like)
1 can of beef broth
few tablespoons of diced garlic (I use the stuff in the plastic jar)
Mexican chili powder - to taste
regular chili powder - to taste
paprika
cumin
LeGrille brand sweet chili & pepper mix
some Cajun spice
onion powder
black pepper
oregano
Italian seasoning
1 large can of kidney beans
1 reg can of black beans
sliced carrots
2 cans of mushrooms
1 orange bell pepper - diced
1 yellow bell pepper - diced
a few jalapeno peppers - sliced
a few whole chili peppers - the really hot ones
2 fresh tomatoes - diced
1 large can of diced tomatoes
1 can of tomato sauce (not pasta sauce)
and anything else you like can go in the mix

I brown the chicken on a fry pan with the garlic and chili spices then add everything together in a cast iron dutch oven which goes on the BBQ uncovered. I also add about 5 or 6 good sized chunks of hickory wood to the coal pit to give it that awesome smokey flavor. Cooked a about 350 for 3.5 hrs.

This was the chili finished and off the grill.

I love the fact that there so many veggies in there. Nutritious and good for you.

You might need to start their your own chilli thread or fanclub.... as for the chilli I thought I saw asparagus or celery in there.

Some people tell me not to use canned beans for chilli since they are fattier & more gassy? Also how many servings did you get out the cast iron bucket? Where do you find a cast iron bucket?

Cast iron bucket? It's called a DUTCH OVEN — figure it out.

They can be had anywhere pretty much anywhere.

Dr Butcher - man, that's some serious chow. Nice pics, nice smoke rings too. Is that a WSM I see in there?

I got the dutch oven at Bass Pro in Vaughan. $65 or $70 (don't remember) for the 7qt.

Are your cooking grids made of cast iron? If not, try them on a cast iron grid, that should sear it pretty good. You can just get a replacement cast iron grid from any BBQ and put it on top of your regular grid, using it only when you want to sear meat.
