I bought my wife a Telus Samsung Galaxy Discovery prepaid phone for Christmas with a 20 cent per minute phone call and 20 cent per text pay as you go fee that I negotiated with Telus (she would probably only use the phone for 30 or 40 minutes per month and text maybe 50 texts per month) and she was not too impressed by the phone or the plan. Well it seems that she would also like to have the option to use some data for occasional web browsing (I would assume 200MB to 250 MB would be more than enough per month) and a better camera than the 3 MP camera that comes with the Galaxy.
How anout the Apple Iphone 4 8GB at Kodoo for $150 purchase price or the Samsung Galaxy S11X for $100 with a $150 tab and a monthly $30 Canada wide promotional 200 MB data plan? I don't know much about Kodoo but I assume there is no contract with them. Are there any other better options?

Don't bother with Koodo. It will cost more for the same service. You can add data to your prepaid Telus plan. 100 MB of data is $10 per month. Add 250 texts for $5. That brings you to $15 per month. If she only uses 40 or 50 minutes a month of voice, it'll only cost an extra $8 to $10 in airtime.
That's cheaper than $30/month plus a $150 tab debt.

Thanks for all the fast responses back everyone! The only problem with the Telus prepaid phones is that their phones don't seem to as good as either the Iphone 4 or the Samsung Galaxy 11. The best phones in the Telus prepaid are the Nokia Lumia 610 foe $129 and the Samsung Galaxy Ace Q for $129.....so that is kind of what is holding me back.

I say get the s2x from the Real Canadian Super Store today for $49.99 + $150 tax + applicable taxes - $100 gift card. You can cancel at any time so the phone itself is pretty cheap. This is the same deal offered by BB and FS but I would rather have $100 in gift cards for groceries.

You can even unlock it for free. I got the phone for a relative who is now using it on Rogers.

cant remember if it is best buy or future shop that has it for 49.99 + 150 tab and 100$gift card. i bought mine at best buy a few days ago but also got 55$ in reward points or will get when they go through. if not for that extra 55$ i would have purchased at walmart or somewhere that price-matched and i could use the card on a wider variety of things. I would do London drugs but they told me they had no returns on cell phones which sucked.
otherwise the koodo service seems OK. this is my first android phone that i am actually using data and everything so cant really compare it. i have for another 30 days a prepaid telus account that if i decide i don't like koodo i can hopefully move to without unlocking._______________
Poor Grammar and being long winded don't fit well together, Oh well.
