Up to $100 to bundle your banking

Savings:
$100
Expiry:
July 31, 2017
Retailer:
President's Choice Financial
Saw this at the PC pavilion today. It's similar to the targeted $50 offer but is open to new customers instead.

To get the $100, you need to open a no fee bank account + savings account before July 31, 2017, and complete the following before Sept 30, 2017:

a) Setup direct deposit of payroll or pension ($50)
b) Setup 2x pre-authorized debits ($25)
c) Setup an automatic transfer from chequing to savings, and allow it to happen at least twice ($25)

Cash bonus will be paid out in October.

You have until Sept 30 to do the payroll thing. When is the promo at Desjardins over?

I've got this email for an old account.

Isn't this applicable to existing customers who has NEVER taken advantage of similar promos?

In speaking to the branch, the Desjardins thing is a train wreck waiting to happen. The promos are plied manually as determined by the rep should he or she feel you've met the EXACT criteria which is not fully written down.

Existing customers got a similar offer for $50. It's the same offer without the payroll option.

Can someone confirm:
Set up for the first time and make at least 2 pre-authorized electronic funds transfer (EFT) or recurring online/mobile bill payments from your account.
Does doing an EFT pull from my Tangerine account count?

I'm an existing customer and got the $100 offer (with payroll option). If it makes any difference, I've never had my payroll deposited to PC Financial in the past:

Hi ******,

Since you already take advantage of the no fee bank account, we† wanted to let you know that you could get $100 cash* by bundling your banking services by September 30, 2017.

Here’s how:

Add payroll or pension direct deposit to your President’s Choice Financial® no fee bank account, have two deposits to get $50 in cash

Set up and complete two different pre-authorized bill payments and get $25 in cash

Set up regular, automated transfers online from your chequing account to a PC Financial investment or savings account, have two automated transfers and get $25 in cash

It really does pay to bank in one place.
When your mind says give up, hope whispers "one more try"

Anyone know if this is a hard or soft credit hit?

Also, Andy mind expanding on this more? considering desjardins but the 4-6 months requirement seems a little ...

That's how every bank does it. It's too expensive to get it automated for a one off promo so it's all applied by hand and that's why it always take so long to apply. They just allocate a bunch of people in the back office to do the checks manually for a few months.

--edit: to clarify, I meant this is how most banks do it (not only Desjardins)

No... Every Tangerine, PCF, CIBC, RBC or TD promo I've ever participated in was definitely automatic. I even worked for one of the Big 5, and all promo transactions are system-generated. Never heard of a bank that does otherwise.... Labour is expensive...

Fair enough, I was basing this on my knowledge of the telecom industry where these promos are usually manual.

I got the $50 bonus offer. I only have one Fido bill and where can I get the second pre-authorized bill payment?

I called PC to clarify, pre-authorized EFTs are definitely treated differently as a transaction on the backend (first thing that comes to mind is AMEX's Electronic Payment Program, where AMEX can EFT money out of your linked bank account). However, Bill Paying any credit cards works as well.

The rep in the pavilion told me "Credit cards don't count", but evidently that is not true. There is also no minimum on any of the transactions (WRT payroll/bill pay), so this should be a fairly easy $100 to get. No fees/minimum account age to close out accounts either.

Isn't CIBC smart account with $300 offer better.
