i ordered an instock item, that i really needed this week. only to be told 3 days later its out of stock and will be backordered until at least 30th...
then when i asked for a refund was told they would have to confirm with their supplier that the order was cancelled before they refunded me.. i told them that's their problem, cancel and refund me today. dealing with their suppliers is really their problem not mine..
i'll pay the small amount extra and order from a more reputable supplier in the future.
EDIT: it gets even better, in the 3 days being messed around by hook bag, the reputable stores have now also sold out. awesome...

Ok.. so I found this website and was reading all your posts about hookbag.ca . I bought a new APC UPS - about a $700 item from them but I did not know about this site until after. I felt compelled to sign up to give honest feedback so far. I bought it last night via paypal because I don't trust my CC number out there. The transaction finialized this morning and they updated my order late afternoon with a tracking number, drop shipped from their supplier. I will let everyone know in a few days what I end up with or if I have any problems. I am pretty freaked out after spending my money there after reading all the posts here but I felt compelled to sign up to give feedback on this hoping it will help someone either choose to shop there or to run away.

So far it's legitimate and a lot of people are ordering on Hookbag.ca. I don't know their results and I haven't ordered any items from them yet.
They do have a good base price to PM at Memory Express so that'S another option for others.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I do.
Like Rehan said, there are some pretty unsavoury connections out there. Having said that, maybe someone needs to set up a "company" that doesn't really ship very much, for use as a price matcher.

I read these forums and based on replies I took my chance on hookbag.ca. Being that they had the cheepest price on the Razer hex mouse plus free shipping after $50. Well I ordered it on a Sunday, got all the e-mails confirming the order, arrived on Wednesday. Was really quick 3 days and all went well. Got to use Paypal and arrived quickly. Packaging was the retail box wrapped up and it came to the door and i had to sign for it so no one could steal it.. I will buy again from them at the prices they have.

just ordered a BA II Plus Financial Calculator and CoolerMaster HYPER 212 EVO from them.
the calculator is really the best price I can find in Canada I guess, but if the order is less than $50 the postal charge + tax will add up to the retail store price.
"fortunately" today my motherboard bracket decided to fail on me by breaking its little plastic hook....... this is the third one in 2 years, so instead of changing the bracket again and again, I am glade to see the Hyper 212, which can fit on it by bolt rather than the hook. LOL
Waiting for my delivery
,so I can put my little server back to work.

I did some research on hookbag.ca because when a company uses distributors to dropship they have to pay shipping and handling fees, but hookbag has some free shipping.
They also have a dropship business in U.S.A. also under hookbag.com 828 Proctor Ave. Ogdensburg, NY 13669, phone number in Delaware doesn't match location
Beside DandH they also use other distributors http://www.hookbag.ca/product/H3C06DNCA/ If you notice vendor logo it says Synnex which is another distributor
this product is available only thru Synnex in U.S.A. http://ec.synnex.com/vendors/ http://ec.synnex.com/vendors/MOBILE_EDGE_LLC.html
if you check Canada Synnex they don't carry this vendor http://ec.synnex.ca/vendors/
What I'm getting at is, do they actually get their products from U.S.A and ship from Canada ? all major distributors have warehouses in U.S.A. and Canada
that would explain the lower prices and free shipping for over $50. Probably U.S.A. distributors offer better shipping deals.
Is so warranty on products might not be valid in Canada. You might just double check the products you bought to make sure the warranty is covered in Canada
Just some piece of advice

Made an order on Thursday for some Sony headphones, and they arrived Monday exactly as ordered. I'm a happy camper.

Got my order delivered on Monday as well, but since two things I ordered are not quite related, so I guess they come from two different suppliers, and I got two UPS packages separately delivered. So when I received the first package and find only half of my order was there I tried to call their number but got something said "the number is not available to call in my region" cannot remember the exact words, but isn't 877 number can be dialed anywhere in NA? or maybe just an issue with my voip provider.
anyway, I got the second package after I sent an email for inquiry, and all things are in sealed box, no complain
btw rf2k12abc, DirectCanada also offer free shipping for orders over $50, and for BestDirect the threshold is $80.
I do see that newegg.com offer most of their products free shipping but not for newegg.ca
