Human rights violation here in Quebec by the language police. Bullying the big corporations is their new way to attract business in QC.

For $50 more, much better deal than in the OP. Just make sure to buy it using a credit card that doubles the warranty to 2 years; Lenovo hinges have a habit of breaking.
I have the same Z580, only new in the US a few months ago (non-refurb) for $350 AR and with 8 GB RAM. Not a bad system, but the Ideapad trackpad sucks, and the 1366 x 768 screen resolution is crappy but typical for sub-$1000. Nice: minimal bloatware.
Stay away from Windows 8 on these units (or on anything without a touchscreen for that matter IMHO).Last edited by FatWallet; Jan 4th, 2013 at 10:24 AM.

Never bought refurbished (knowingly :p ) before. I would need to add warranty on this, for a few years. Have you guys dealt with Best Buy warranty (or F/S for the other deal) before, is it worth?

I was annoyed by this too until I saw a recent post saying that you could get around it by using the iOS Future Shop app. I found out that I could order the refurbished Lenovo P580 on New Year's eve via either the iOS or Android app. i have the delivered laptop sitting next to me in Montreal (arrived yesterday) as proof so if you are able to try one of those workarounds you should be able to bypass that restriction. it may at first restate that restriction when you first choose your shipping address but if you persist and go ahead and try to complete your order you should be able to do so successfully. Good luck.

I never, ever buy extended warranties from stores, except for AppleCare (and I buy that off eBay at a big discount). If it's offered by NEW (National Electronics Warranty or a store-branded version), run for your life! Crooks. Most try to weasel out of repairs for nitpicky crap. The only other warranty I would trust is SquareTrade with damage coverage, but they apparently don't do "buy your own" warranties in Canada like in the US.
If you can use a credit card that doubles the warranty up to a year, do that. It's free.Last edited by FatWallet; Jan 4th, 2013 at 10:34 AM.

I ordered this on new years day and just received it yesterday. Couple of the keys were not working on this laptop (p580) so I returned it. Bit apprehensive about ordering it again as the quality may be a little shoddy.

The one that best buy sells is the same one that futureshop sells, right? Why wouldn't you go through Bestbuy to get reward member points too?
