unfortunately it costs more than I expected.
IMO ranger comes too close to f150 with employee discounts etc,

You’ll likely get those discounts with the ranger too though.

It’ll be interesting to eee what percentage under MSRP these go for though (if at all to begin with).

For these prices, I'd rather buy a Toyota Tacoma.

Why? Dated power train and interior. The GM twins and the Ranger are a much better value.

Disclosure i have a 17 Colorado diesel

Depends what you want from a pickup. The Ranger appears (counter to what Ford are saying) to be a lightly modified version of the international one that’s been on sale for a few years. That’s not necessarily a bad thing as the Tacoma is most definitely not a Hilux and more of a North American vehicle. The Ranger is more utilitarian (including better payload and hauling) but the Tacoma will have more road manners.

The Tacoma will undoubtedly have far more aftermarket parts so if you’re into modifying your truck then it may be a better bet.

At least that’s what the reviews I’ve seen have been saying.

The Ranger is about the same age as the Tacoma, 3 or so years old now. Once they fully redesign it, I think it will be a lot more interesting. Until then, I don't think it will come close to Tacoma sale numbers.

No probably not. They don't typically rebate much on the mid size trucks. They also don't make nearly as many, so they don't need to have it to increase sales off the lots.

Those who want a smaller truck will buy it. Anyone who can take a full size will typically go for the bigger one once they have seen the difference in price.

I have a friend who works at the Cobourg dealership, who said they will have some in stock first week in January. Maybe I will see if I can take one for a drive and see what I think.

Tell that to my '18 that power steering failed, three times in two months. I had it for 250km (not thousand) and traded it in elsewhere. Absolute garbage. The Ranger is VERY well priced for what it is.

Any Ford is 10 X more likely to be recalled more than once than a Toyota sooner or later.

Too close? It overlaps it entirely and actually starts higher than the cheapest F-150. Of course with trucks there's so many cabs/configurations/etc. out there that I guess it's overlapping for good reason.

But yeah the employee discounts (whenever they come up again) won't exclude the Ranger so it'll be discounted too.
