I fixed my infinite loop prob by changing to a cheapo PSU. any chance your using an good PSU such as Antec or Enermax?
EDIT
also check out rage3d.com and read the forums
you almost might try changeing your memory timings. if you have them too low they are known to cause this prob as well.

I just got my new computer up and running (for the most part) except there are a few problems. The major one is that when I wake it up from stand by, it says that an error occured because "ati2dvag" was stuck in an infinite loop. I've searched the net and apparently a lot of people are having this same problem but I haven't found a solution yet.
I tried turning off "Fast Writes" in the ATI Control Panel and now it seems that maybe 2 out of 5 times it will come out of standy by normally. I believe all the drivers are up to date. Is there anything I can do?
Thanks!
Specs:
P4 2.6C
1G RAM DDR 400
ASUS P4P800 Deluxe (Bios v. 1010)
ATI Radeon 9600 PRO (Catalyst 3.6 driver)
Windows XP Pro (up to date as far as I can tell)
DirectX 9.0b

Thanks.
I'm using a generic 300W PSU (I think it's says Noka or somethingon the side). My timings for the memory are stock. I'll check how to change them when I get off work. Any suggestions on what they should be?
rage3d.com...I'll check that soon.

I don't know much about intel boards.. but what type of ram is it? brand name..etc.
you might try running the ram under stock and see if that fixes it._______________

The ram is Infineon. Don't know the part number right now because I'm at work but I'll add it in when I get home.

are you sure the mem is compatible with that mobo? and does it only get into looping when in standbye?
if so simple solution, don't use standbye! its not really any use and causes more probs then its worth usually. just turn off the monitor when not in use

I'm fairly certain the memory is compatable. It's on the list of tested memory modules on the ASUS site.
The chips have HYB25D256800BT-5B on them which match the ones found on the MB page http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket478/...-d/overview.htm
I actually like the sleep mode because the entire unit powers down and it is dead silent. My case is far from quiet and I like to leave my computer on instead of turning it off.

I'm looking at rage3d.com and it's a crap load of data. Should of found this before I bought the card. I probably would've been chugging along on a Ti4200.
I'll check the memory timings as well as the PSU. Any programs you can suggest to use?

I was somehow able to solve the waking up problem by going into the BIOS and turning on the 'POST video after S3 mode'...or something like that. Now the computer will wake up instead of giving me the infinite loop problem. Doubt it'll solve the other infinite loop problems other Radeon user but so far it's working for me.
Anways thanks for your help!
