Ya... another rule of OTA grads: DO NOT trade around earnings.
Just like Apple. www.powertradingradio.com Merlin R. (OTA) said, AAPL on the day of earnings he called it POPCORN trade. Means, sit at home, unplug your keyboard, grab a bowl of popcorn and watch AAPL on the charts as they announce earnings.
On the next day, he said "see, what did I tell you? Did ANY analyst predict Apple was gonna miss estimates? None."

FB doesn't have enough history for charts to trade from a TA point of view, so one shouldn't be in FB at all.
Zynga: ya, its on a huge downtrend to begin with, so the play all the alone would be SHORT. And if you did, you'd be SUPER happy tomorrow._______________

NOV - here's another pick by one of my google group members from OTA. This is LIVE, happening right now. So you guys can see I'm not making up crap AFTER the fact.
Zone was drawn before price came into it. Short would be at near 73.30 (#2 entry) or just as price leaves the lower line. We call that a #3 entry with confirmation.

I got suncore yesterday based on their earnings. Happy i did! If it turns around I have a stop so no matter what Im up. Can someone tell me what makes the price change so much overnight though, if so few after hours trading is done?

If there is a small volume it can still affect the price very largely. It all depends on how many people are buying and how many are selling. So if after-hours (or even during hours) there is good news released, most people with the stock won't want to sell yet so there will be very few sellers, but many people will want to buy it when the market opens next, so they will put in their orders. With each "buy" order, the price will increase because if there are not many sellers, all the new buyers are competing to buy the few shares that are for sale (major demand spike with low supply will always increase the price of anything)

The amount of volume after hours is irrelevant.
The price at the close of Wednesday depends on the price people want to buy and sell on Wednesday at the close.
The price at the open of Thursday depends on the price people want to buy and sell on Thursday at the open.
A lot can happen between the close on Wednesday and open on Thursday. People buying and selling on Thursday morning don't have to care a bit about what was happening Wednesday at the close. Reply With Quote
