That cable should work but if you already have a bunch of VGA cables at home it'll be cheaper to just buy the adapter like this one:

Proper cable to hook up PC(dvi) to LCD(vga)?
Hey guys,
I just got an LCD TV with a VGA input and im using a 7800GT on my PC with two DVI inputs
Im wondering what cable I need to hook my PC up to my TV
I found this on monoprice but im not certain this is what I need and wanted to make sure before I place an order. In the description where it says: Connects a VGA port on a computer to a monitor with a DVI-I connector is what's throwing me off

I do have the adapter already....I just need a long VGA cable since the computer is pretty far from the TV. Can I get an 15FT SVGA male/male cable to serve the same purpose? I noticed that the longest plain VGA cable they have is 10FT.
Would this work?

Just to be clear, this works only when your video card has a DVI-A connector, i.e., the type which has the 4 extra pins that carry an analog VGA-compatible signal.
Most DVI sources aside from computer graphics cards have DVI-D connectors with no analog pins - they do not output a VGA-compatible signal, and there's no easy way to convert.
