After the 3DS awful launch and price drop, I promise myself to never get any system on launch ever again.(yes I was one of the idiot that bought the 3DS on launch). With that being said, I'm sure the Vita would get a price drop later this year and that's when I'll mostly be picking it. Lower price + more 3 AAA titles = win.

ps vita booth in eaton centre
I just tried it and I have to say i'm not impressed at all I tried the uncharted and fifa demo. fifa was ok but uncharted the loading was pretty bad (its not long but really frequent and this ins't using the cartage) and the touch screen controls were really tacked on its like they just threw them in there I thought they were very gimmicky what do you guys think? I might change my opinion once ultimate marvel vs capcom comes out but I don't think i'll be buying one

too many buttons!
The standard buttons, trigger buttons, two thumbsticks, touch screen front, touch screen back. It's like you gotta molest that thing all around just to play a game_______________

IGN did a piece regarding how load times would differ from mem card/psn download and physical cartage. From the video it looked maybe just a few seconds slower, the editors didn't mention anything regarding frequent loads.
Sidenote: at least you got to play it, the official Sony store in HK Shatin just had a demo unit and nothing loaded on the system. lol.

walked by the booth yesterday and there were a few people trying it out, but didn't seem as busy as it should've been.

I find the more buttons the better actually... better control over the game with more precision. I hate simplified controls.
What is wrong with it having similarities to the PSP? That doesn't even make sense why that would cause less interest, because from a marketing view with the PSP brand successfully established you would think people would identify and be more comfortable with buying one.

Advertising wouldn't help much. The market for portable gaming changed a few years ago with the advent of the $0.99 apps for smartphones. Next time you are in the subway, look around and noticed how many people are using their cellphone for gaming. This generation could well be the last for portable gaming as we know it.

I think the vita will be a massive fail. Sales will be horrible.
I'll quote myself in a couple months when it will be reality.
Thanks

Is the Vita really going to be that bad? I think it has some neat things not seen on other devices like the Near feature that lets you see people playing nearby and what they're playing (and in some games, you can join them or interact with them). Plus the Party feature (voice chat with friends in and out of games) seems to function well. I can't say much about the actual games though... From the videos I've seen, they look more like 'PlayStation 2 and 1/2' rather than PS3 quality. Hard to tell without actually seeing it first hand. I guess this might mean a trip to Eaton Centre today.
