It's August 2012. Vita is still $249.99. What happened to your "guarantee" ?
Also selling a great deal better in NA than Japan.

But the gist is still right. The Vita is, unfortunately, not taking off. It really needs a strong system-defining game. I thought it was going to be Gravity Rush, but as much as I liked the game it definitely was not what the Vita needed.

Good news for VITA+PS3 owners.

Buy either PS3 or VITA version of Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank, or PSASBR and get the other FREE (digital version).

I got my 32 GB memory card off eBay for $53 with free shipping. :3
>.<

I've been looking, but everything on ebay.ca and .com comes out over $80 with shipping. Same as what Amazon's charging. My 4GB card only has like 93MB free.

I don't see one either, and I think that info is a bit distorted.

There was a deal at BestBuy where they were selling the 249$ PS Vita kit with Madden 13 with a 50$GC. Buying online rather than in-store removed the 50$ when adding in cart making it 199$ after GC in cart. The promotion was for a limited time (August 24-30, 2012), but it was still working until late last week (around the 6th).

this deal is dead => http://forums.redflagdeals.com/bestbuy- ... a-1224727/ <= this deal is dead

Amazon.ca had a deal giving away Hot Shots Golf and Uncharted for free with the purchase of a 245$ PS Vita or a 249$ PS Vita with Madden 11. I believe that deal link is also dead.

this deal is also dead => http://forums.redflagdeals.com/amazon-b ... e-1225864/ <= this deal is also dead

Otherwise, NCIX has a deal for the Vita, the starter kit, and three games (Resistance, Gravity Rush, Uncharted). The game selection might be better for some people and the overall price might be lower than Amazon for people not in HST provinces: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php? ... omoid=1219 <= this deal is still live at time of posting, but only good if you were already planning to get the 30$ starter kit and prefer the games in this bundle

Have mixed feelings about the current bang-for-buck proposition on this, though:
- A lot of games can't be played without a memory card, which are mad expensive. The kit comes with NO memory card, and the extra starter kit going from 30~40$ only has a 4GB one (with case and screen protector). There's an Amazon deal for 77.40$ for 32GB right now (http://www.amazon.ca/Sony-22041-Vita-32 ... eogames_18), but it's almost triple what an SD card would cost.
- There's barely any actual Vita games out. In fact, unless you count PSP games from PSN (which consumes lots of space), there isn't a whole lot at all.
- The battery is not user-removable/replaceable, so if the battery rots, then you're stuck sending it back to replace the battery (and possibly pay a fee like iPods before). I don't really use my PSP-2000 that often anymore, but it leaks battery really badly -- if I charge it at the beginning of the month and not use it, it's still draining it and it's empty by the end of the month. I usually end up taking out the battery so that it doesn't ruin it. Can't do that with Vita.
- There's apparently a sync manager for it now (read: lots of DRM) -- apparently you can't access your card directly like the PSP.

tl;dr: Compared to the PSP, it's a lot less versatile -- can't use it as portable storage, can't load whatever files without jumping through hoops, can't use it as a portable MemoryStick Duo or microSD (with adapter) picture viewer, made it very expensive to maintain. It cost more than my PSP and except for gaming, it feels like a massive downgrade. :(

To be fair, there are features that are being added, but I'm not sure they aren't anything that a smartphone doesn't already have.

Who knows, they might bring out a Vita-2000 soon if everyone protests about all these stupid design quirks. :(

Not a general deal, but stacking a 25$ and 50$ coupon at Staples, you can bring it down from 250$ to 175$ (coupons only good until the 18th, and only if you actually got any 25$ and 50$ coupons):

Coupons thread: http://forums.redflagdeals.com/merged-s ... s-1241708/
PS Vita at Staples: http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_s ... xedcode=WW

Barring that, FS is having a 50$GC off online orders again, bringing it down to 200$ (250$ - 50$, only until Oct 18th):

Anybody find any good pricing on Vita memory cards? $40 for 16gb is a bit steep.
