PS2 or Xbox???

Though I am anti-Microsoft and anti-Sony, I would go with the PS2, because of the games

I am a Nintendo fan, but the reason that I got a PS2 instead of Gamecube, is beacause there is no Piracy with the gamecube
and also SNK vs Capcom 2, which wasnt out on the gamecube before

get ps2, since Games>>>>power(graphics, sound), unless u wanna buy the system for the graphics and not the game

I'm probably in the minority of people who actually like the Xbox controller more then the PS2 one.

For FPS's I've found the PS2 controller to suck horribly. The analog sticks just don't seem to be in the right location for those types of games.

Although a controller is no match for a mouse and keyboard, the control scheme used in games like Halo works very well, and can in someways match what experience you can get on a PC.

That's the problem I've having with Metroid Prime on the GC. Although it's a great game, the controls just seem very inferior. The lack of a 2nd analog stick to use as a look is driving me mad at times.

My gawd....Final Fantasy X-2...heh I played that before i even played X. It's so whimsical and wacky and depressing and exciting...you can pick up and play for 5 mins or 5 hours with the mission-based play. It's so anti-reality and quirky - no wonder it's such a perfect "escape" to engross yourself in. I loved it! It's like watching a B-movie with characters you care about!

You're wrong. There is piracy on the 'Cube as well, just a lot more inconvenient to do (you stream games through the pathetic 10Mbps pipe called their network adapter). Power can also not be mutually exclusive with games (See Xbox and EXCELLENT emulation capability).
PS2 can have good graphics, just not great ones on a consistent basis (shining examples are very few: GT series, MGS series, Ico-makers, Jax 2). And even those can't touch the Xbox best graphically: Phantom Dust, Riddick, Halo 2, etc).
Still for current gen games, PS2 has way more esp. if you love RPGs.

Well they did have a few years head start.

Xbox was neve supposed to match the PS2. It was just to get a foothold for the next round.

Going into Xbox2 and PS3 both MS and Sony will be basically neck and neck.

Well there hasn't been any official dates released just yet.

But from the looks of it both systems will be out within a year of each other. Which is pretty much close enough to be neck and neck.

Even if it happened, the Xbox just doesn't have the RPG support from any of the box Japanese companies... Xenosaga/FF/Dragon QUest from Squeenix, Tales from Namco and Shining from Sega... and probably lots more.

Growing up in South East Asia, you tend not to play the games that are so much more popular here (Bball, Football, Hockey), plus they never really appealed to me since I am not familiar with thr rules nor could I watch any of those live.

PS2 - RPG/GT series
Gamecube - Party Console, can't beat 8 player Mario Kart DD

PS2 has never really thrilled me. I have all three current gen consoles, and my order of favourites is:

1) Xbox
2) Gamecube
3) PS2

Quite frankly PS does have a lot of exclusive titles, but most of the titles don't appeal to me. Xbox has Halo, which is possibly my most favourite game of all time. Gamecube has some great titles as well.

It'll come down to which kinda of games you like best. Just look at the "killer app" for each system and decide which you like best and buy that system.

My vote is for xbox tho

Heh, I agree it was cheesy and all, but it did provide for some laughs at times. Plus 1000 Words is still one of my fave songs (which they thankfully rewrote and not butcher in the US version). And unlike some other RPGs/TRPGs, I did not ever have to pull an all-nighter playing it.
