PS2 or Xbox???

I am not sure if I should get FFX or FFX-2 when I get my PS2. :/
They don't really seem that appealing to me (was excited about FFX when they first unveiled it though) anymore because they seem to be a bit too pop-culture-y. I would get them if they had the Japanese voice-overs though.
I am looking forward to FFXII though (really should have named FFXI something like Final Fantasy: Online....).

id say PS2... lots of titles to choose from ranging from first party to third party.. the only thing saving the xbox is its third party support...

Not the only game of course. But Halo/Halo2 are 2 very good reasons to own an Xbox.

To be honest I would put Halo up as one of the best games of all time. Not everyone will agree with me I know, but I'd consider it to be that good.

The only other game which I spent close to as much time playing was GTA3.

After reading more posts, it's pretty evident that if you don't want to buy Halo, you shouldn't be getting an X-Box :p Unless of course you're modding it for divx and such (does anyone know if anime plays well on it?). I'm not saying Halo is bad, just that one console should not have to rely on one good game to support it's life.

ANY multiplatform game looks, sounds and IMO plays better on Xbox.
If online enabled, the experience on xbox live is almost always better.

And yes, anime plays very well on Xbox (after the mod of course).
I actually didn't like Halo all that much. Played thru single player campaign and boot it once in a while for multiplay but it didn't impress me all that much. I think DOA3 was the true Xbox demo at the time, not Halo 2.

2 player co-op is what made the game. I loved playing the campaign with 1 friend.

Halo isn't the only reason to buy an xbox, but it's the best reason. But it for Halo, and then try other stuff.

Same kind of reason on most of my consoles. Bought GC for Mario,etc, tried other stuff as well.

There will always be 1 or 2 games that you really want when choosing a system, the rest are just kind of icing on the cake.

That's what made Serious Sam so fun on the PC - ripping through it with some buddies. I don't understand why developers don't realize there's a fairly sizeable market for this kind of stuff.

What kind of console is good for someone on a limited time budget? I'd probably be able to sit down with it for 30 minutes at a time, maybe 1 hour, but still somewhat regularly (as opposed to fewer but longer stints).

You're asking the wrong question I think.

It's not what console, but what games. Some games take alot of time and commitment(like RPG's). Some you can just jump in and play a bit at a time(sports games).

So in that case it depends on what games. If it's sports games then Xbox would be the way to go, as teh games you'll play are on all systems so may as well get the best looking one.

Although for console itself I'd say Gamecube simply because it's cheaper. Why pay more for a system that is only used occasionally?

Just blitzed through X-men Legends with a housemate for the last 2 days... it's now 4 am and we've played 11 hours of it (2 player co-op) ... tired.. =.=

Sports games will not get played in my house, those are out. I like a good RPG (Skies of Arcadia, anyone?), but it's gotta be playable in chunks of an hour at most. If there's 3 hours between save points, that annoys me.

I've thought about that. There's enough awesome single player games, but the multiplayer is generally offline, so might not get used as much.

I'm intrigued by Xbox Live for multiplayer, as well as the media capabilities of a modded Xbox.

I'm a Video Game FREAK and have all 3 console systems..I think they r all great in there own ways, but too be honest with U, I find myself playing the PS2 much more than I do with my X Box, or Gamecube..
