I chose the DS.
Mainly because I read that PSP's were being shipped with numerous defects.

DS here as well. I believe Ninetendo has been in the 'handheld' market long enough to know what their doing. I'll wait for Sony 2nd or 3rd generation handheld to 'jump' in the waters

Considering this is only system #3 for Sony, they are still a baby compared to a giant like Nintendo. The defects are only there due to a race on Christmas rush. (I assume Christmas is large in Japan, with their large populous of Christians?)
So, although they are going to have some hurdles to overcome.. Agreeing with sleepyguy, PSP might not be the best-ever system. But it will bring something new to the table. For that alone, I vote PSP for inginuity.
Those bugs will be fixed with their next handheld release, and I will continue to be happy, as long as Squeenix, Konami & Capcom exist.Last edited by CodecX81; Dec 15th, 2004 at 03:58 PM.

It's always a good idea to wait a year or so before buying a console. launch consols almost always have flaws that are fixed in the first year.

What really annoyed me was that it took 2 weeks to get a replacement unit(due to everything being sold out).
I finally mange to snag a replacement unit and the guy tells me, "Oh you it might started to work if you turned it upside down and shook it.". Yeah like I was going to do that to a $500 video game system.
And actually supposedly the problem that finally killed my system could be fixed by running it upside down. Though when the knob that holds the CD in place isn't stuck down the CD would just fall off when turned upside down.

I will rather have a DS because:
-it has 2 screens
-one of the screens are touch sensitive
-the games appeal to me more
-built in microphone
-clam shell design
-Nintendo as its developper (we can always trust Nintendo)
-a lot cheaper than the psp
-psp has load times when you start the game, and when you are playing
-psp has a low battery life
-sony will make you buy accesories that should have been on the system (microphone, high end memory sticks, battery packs, etc)(thats already an extra $50 at least)
and for these reasons i like DS>PSP
