That's actually a good question given what has transpired over the past 24 hours at Public Mobile

No, you do not need a credit card to sign up. You can pay cash for a credit voucher at Walmart and apply that voucher to your 'new' account.

BUT...
New plans with bonus data require autopay which by default requires a credit card.
These plans include Cda Wide calling and unlimited text
No credit card (no autopay)
$35 1GB
$40 4.5GB
$45 6GB
$50 8GB
If you enable auto pay you will get a bonus 500MB to the above plans plus a $2 credit per 30 days

Now you could technically pay cash in store to activate and then apply a credit card for autopay.

I would get Walmart or WOW to port you number. Just make sure you have your account info and your phone is unlocked

is there any benefit to this vs doing it yourself via selfserve? Also can i change around my plan after myself if i see better deals come up?

Thank you!

I personally got Walmart just to activate the plan (so I get the free sim+free month). I ported a month later on my own. And yes I’ve changed the plan since.

They are used to the porting process. Now, you could choose to port later and 'test' the service for a bit to see if it works. If it does not work for you , just let the plan expire - no contract. But generally, if you are going to make the switch, let them do the port

You can change to any in market plan at any time. You can also set it up ahead of time to switch on your next renewal date. So any new or better plan that may come along you can switch to.

2 separate deals. Yes you could do both, but they are not related to each other.

No

Free SIM, and no connection fee. Just pay for your first month for whatever plan you pick + tax.
No 911 fee either

And you will get another $10 credit (within 72 hours) if you have a referral number. The other party referring you does not get any bonus other than $1 / 30 days
