Read about it some months back. Getting 1 year house arrest is a slap in the face for the victim(s).
HIV is a life sentence, so I don't know why she didn't get the same.

Public Service: Do not sleep with this woman.
full story on cbc news (link not working right now)A woman who had unprotected sex with a soldier without telling him that she is HIV positive has been sentenced to house arrest for a year.
Jennifer Murphy, 32, was sentenced in Barrie, Ontario, on Friday after pleading guilty to aggravated sexual assault in November.
What do you guys/gals think, is one year enough for knowingly infecting another person with HIV?
crazy broad....Apparently it was more than one victim, and several years ago, Murphy told CBC-TV in St. John's that she had tested positive for HIV in 1994.Last edited by fakishan; Dec 9th, 2005 at 09:01 PM.

Did the soldier contract the HIV virus?
The story didn't seem to be clear on that issue.
If he contracted the HIV virus, then she basically killed him and she should get a life sentence. That's murder in my eyes.
If he didn't contract the HIV virus, she committed attempted murder in my eyes and should serve 15-20 years.
Since the law doesn't recognize this behaviour as attempted murder, I guess aggravated sexual assault is the worst she can get, but house arrest just doesn't seem like a proper punishment. Send her to jail for at least 5-10 years.
The prison I work at has an inmate who was the first person ever convicted of spreading AIDS. He's doing a life sentence._______________

The system just spanked her and told her not to do it again. It should be a much stiffer penalty.

There's been many cases with men...
not often you see women committing this crime
I definitely agree with the attempted murder/murder charges
