some people or rather one person seems to read it as me asserting hte police "WOULD" do a bunch of stuff to you.
anyway. i'm glad to see someone voice SOME reason. got a little tired of the discussing this at 3rd grade level.
you know I completely agree with everything you feel about this law and I am sick of tired with some of the people on RFD who thinks this law is god send.
I also think not all cops are pigs, crooks etc. and there are many of them who actually help and protect all of us. But as you mentioned, the pressure from above forces them to write these tickets.
I just experienced this just last week. I was making a right turn from bay st. to richmond st. in toronto between 4-6pm and apparently it is not allowed at those times. So I got a ticket for illegal turn but the cop told me to go to court and he basically told me that he is not going to show up. Any intelligent person with half a brain would easily realize that he is only doing this to satisfy his boss.

I was scared today, nearly ended up in your situation
Was going eastbound in collectors on 401 Morningside and I saw an OPP car sitting off the road near the MTO cam and I was going pretty fast I was like crap and I thought he would come after me. Once I made it home I was happy
I was pretty scared of ruining my immaculate records so far
I kinda hate on how they prey on people, sitting behind a speed zone change and having tow trucks ready is just wrong imo
However, If I was given a break for just 15 over I would be tempted to fight it as well but I'd definitely need advice question is how much does a traffic lawyer cost if they win? (assuming you don't pay if they lose)

I'm not sure if i agree with what you're implying in your post. I welcome preying OPP on the roads. It makes everyone a "better" driver if more of them are seen around.
The problem in my opinion isn't crooked cops. You will always have an imperfect police force. To expect all cops to be honest and just and perfect is just fooling ourselves.
The problem is the law is written in such a way to give imperfect beings a chance to destroy your life without due process. If I'm guilty of a crime/offense, so be it, let a court decide that. Not a powertripping cop.
