When I lived there, there were some limits close to some cities for noise and pollution reasons, as well as some weather-dependent limits imposed by electronic signs, but the vast majority of the autobahn had no limit. In particular, there was no speed limit for trucks beyond the stipulation that they had to exceed the speed of the vehicle they were passing by 20 km/h.

The cop was probably not BS'ing.
You were bouncing on and off the 150km/h range and did not know it. Next time, if you try to do that again, take micro second glances if you're speedo near this barrier and go close to it and not over it. lol
sorry, but good luck in court. Maybe you'll get it reduced to 149km/h.. But you might be SOL thinknig you didn't do it as a defence.

shrug. 40 hours of instruction(what do people who take young driver's here get?). 12 hours in a car with a licensed instructor, which is comparable to what young driver's students get. Costs 2000+ euros, though, so people value the process more and study harder so they don't have to repeat it.
Incidentally, the demerit points system was started in Germany, as was (I think) the whole idea of a driver's license.
It's not speed qua speed that's going to kill mommy markham. Really, you're making an argument for better training for everyone, not harsher speeding laws.
One thing I think is better in Germany though is the minimum age of 18 - a 16 year old male should not be behind the wheel.Last edited by Anonymouse; Sep 2nd, 2008 at 02:57 PM.
