Q:windows XP reinstall
hello,
My computer motherboard crashed. I am considering if I need to upgrade to a new motherboard and faster CPU. But I am worry about my Windows Xp. Since my XP was registered on MS website, can I get online support after upgrade?
If not, I may buy a new computer. Thanks,

You can usually get by without the need to reactivate. If XP fusses, however, you can call MS and simply tell them that the original motherboard broke, and they will issue you a key. It's a bit of a pain, but it works.

Nah, I've installed XP a few times during the past year. Ever since 2004, they've taken all their CSRs off the Windows XP activation lines, so you won't have to talk to a person in order to get the number. Just key in your product ID and you're set. I've done this with a few computers last year and haven't talked to a single CSR yet.
