ques about CAA membership
After a hard lesson i chose to join CAA membership few days ago..
i opt to go with CAA basic for $35 (coz i have another person who has caa at same house)...
i understand that the only difference between CAA basic vs CAA plus is the KM ranges.
what i wanted to know is,
1. say if I need road assistance... will there be time delays in the CAA mechanic/tow truck because i got CAA basic coverage?
2. this is really for CAA agent, how much would they charge me for tow after 10KM (remember i got CAA basic).
any other tip regarding CAA would be appreciated.
tnx in advance.

No, there should be no delays based on your membership type, however there may be delays because of weather conditions, etc.
If you are planning a road trip, you can go to CAA for free travel books, maps, etc. They also have some great savings partners, such as hotels.
Edit: I think the cost of extra kms is determined by the tow provider and jurisdiction. I believe all CAA tow trucks are sub-contracted.

Hi, this is my first post so hope it works.
I just had to use CAA (I have CAA plus) on Wednesday when my battery died on the 401 east. I called them and they sent a tow truck approx 40 minutes later and towed me to my mechanic near work. In speaking with the operator, he mentioned they are all sub contracted. When you call it goes to the dispatch center in thornhill and then the contractor is dispatched to your location, they were very professional. He also mentioned that all of the CAA sub contractors have labels on their trucks that they are CAA sub-contracted. If they don't then you take you chances with one of the "vultures" and their costs.
