A question about car battery
Recently, I have to replace the car battery myself since the car won't start in the gargage. The last battery was installed about 4 years ago at a repair shop. It was an AC Delco with 6 yrs warranty, but when I checked with the auto part shop people, the offical book listed a different model number for my car.
Is it the reason why the battery didn't last as long when it is not the correct model to use? The people from the auto part shop suggested that the repair shop just put in any battery available to get the car started.

So long as it fits your car it really shouldn't matter. It should output the standard 12->14 volts regardless.
If you still have the receipt for the 4 year old battery, you can get the 2 years applied towards the purchase of a new one.
But honestly, go to Costco (if you have a membership, or go with a friend that does) and pick up one from there. The battery for my car costs $50 there whereas it's at least $80+ elsewhere.

Could it be the alternator isn't charging the battery when the car is running hence drain on the battery?

Hard to say much.. we don't know your vehicle, the condition of the vehicle and it's parts, nor do we know your driving habits.
If it's an old vehicle though, I would stick any battery in it.. batteries are different, but you can generalize and say a battery is a battery.

CT had their Eliminator for my car with 435 CCA for $99 9 year warranty. Costco had their Kirkland with 500 CCA for $42 10 yr warranty.
