question about getting an e-test on a car which isn't registered.
Hey All,
Looking to buy a used car, private sale. The owner is selling it AS-IS. The issue is that the last time the car was plated/registered was 2007. The owner has a current valid UVIP (used vehicle information package), and has the ownership portion of the vehicle permit ready to sign over to me. The problem is that I need to get the car safetied as well as e-tested before I can get it fully on the road.
To get it E-tested, do I need to have the vehicle simply taken as is, to an e-test facility and have them test it? Do they need to link the car to any specific license plate, or will just the VIN # suffice?
Thanks

bring the car to any e test facility, the test is tied in to the Vin#, they will give you the emissions test result

it's tied to the VIN #.... and then uploaded to the car's drive clean history, so the licensing office will already have the results when you go to do the transfer into your name. just make sure you get your receipt !
you will also get a hard copy from the testing facility for your records.
