its pretty accurate provided they don't have any delays ie. signal problems, door problems, etc.Originally Posted by bobbings
being your first day it may be easier to navigate to your location via surface streets. plus its summer. The PATH systems does take you from union to St. Andrew but I wouldn't try it on your first day if you're pressed for time. its easy to get lost. better to try it after work.Originally Posted by bobbings

Question about the GoTrain
Hey guys,
I will be starting my full time job down by University and King on Tuesday. My form of transportation is to drive to the Unionville Go Station or the Bullock one in Markham and then take the train down to Union.
My question is how accurate is the train schedule that is posted on their website?
Also, if I get off at Union Station, is there an underground pass that can lead me to St. Andrew station because my office is right by it.
Can I use the monthly pass at Bullock or Unionville interchangeably because the cost is the same?
First day working downtown so I don't want to be late. I'll be leaving extra early to try it out but I would like some input from those who go the same way to work.
Any other things to watch out for? Thanks in advance!_______________

Do NOT attempt to navigate PATH from Union to St. Andrew on your first morning. It's a fairly convoluted route if you're not familiar with the area. Go scout it out on lunch or something.

Here's a link to a map you might want to print out or at least have a look at before venturing down there. Note: They also have these maps posted in different areas in the PATH, just in case you get lost, which I'm sure a lot of ppl do.
I would say don't even try at out at lunch, wait til after work, lol.
It's really easy to get mixed up down there._______________

From years of riding on the Stouffville line, I can tell you that line is pretty punctual with their schdule....
I don't know about the interchageable pass part because I usually buy 10 rides...but I woul suggest you to hop on from Centennial instead of Unionville...the Unionville station is VERY VERY crowded and you have to be there early to find a parking spot..
sorry..don't know about the St.Andrew part, but I do agree with some posters that the Path is very very confusing....I gave up after trying for three days and use the streets rain or shine!_______________

Congrats, and welcome to the wonderful world of commuting.
Usually quite accurate on a daily basis. The big delays come in winter during major storms and such.My question is how accurate is the train schedule that is posted on their website?
Yes you can definitely get to St. Andrew from Union Station undergroud via the PATH... I do it all the time. However as others have said you're better off walking above ground at first as it's very easy to get lost down there. Save the PATH for when it's raining or cold. It's faster above ground anyway. Also, if I get off at Union Station, is there an underground pass that can lead me to St. Andrew station because my office is right by it.

I just saw this..finally something I can answer

GO fares are calculated by zones, not price.
http://gotransit.com/public/en/fares...WORK.HTM#train
Check with a station attendant to see if you can do that. I'm not at work so I don't have access to the zone tables.
You can however use the pass between any two stations between your start and end according to the zones. If you have a pass for Pickering to Union you can get on and off at any station between Pickering and Union on a train or bus.
Watch out for scammers, pickpockets and thieves at Union.
They love rush hour traffic.
I'll see if I can find the stats but the Stouffville line is the best in on-time percentages._______________

Unionville station and Hwy 7/Bullock are both in zone 71. So, the definite answer is YES, you can board from either station, or any other station in between the two zones.
Mind you, Hwy 7/Bullock is just an on street bus stop, so it is not being served during rush hour (only trains run during the rush hour).

Nope. It's not good on the GO at all.
http://www.toronto.ca/ttc/fares.htm#gta
The TTC and GO do not have any fare agreements yet. GO is currently testing the PRESTO pass, but only on certain lines.
Other local transit companies will offer a discount fare to the nearest GO station if you have a valid ticket._______________

On the topic of GO Transit. Has anyone seen the TVs they have on certain lines/trains? I think they play a news stream all the time, that's it. Wonder when Milton will get that.
