Couldn't you lock a helmet (fullface) with a chain and padlock, or a bikelock around the handlebars or something similar?

question about riding motorcycle
sometimes i walk by parked motorcycles i see the rider just leave their helmet on the bike. arent they worried that people can just walk by and grab it? i mean a bike helmet is like a few hundred bucks.
im planning on getting my bike licence and is there a way to lock the helmet to the bike? because taking the helmet with me whenever i go could be kinda annoying.
or can i lock a open face helmet (smaller) in the luggage box in the back?
thanks.

i'm sure bike helmets have a locking mechanism for you to lock your helmet to your bike.

I wouldn't leave my helmet unattanded, find a safe place to store it where it would not get bumped or dropped. Who knows what happened to it while you are away, bumps can cause internal damage invisible on the shell.

If the bike is in sight I'll leave my helmet on the mirror, but any thing farther and it get's locked on the bike. Most bikes have at least one helmet lock (mine has two).
But even then all the guy has to do is cut the helmet strap and have a new d-ring sewn on if he really wants your lid.

woobie is right: you do what you can to make it difficult for casual thieves, but (unless you take it with you when away from the vehicle) someone determined to steal your helmet is going to succeed.
You'd be much safer, and have way more fun and performance, in an Ariel Atom.

When I rode I always carried my helmet with me when I was shopping etc. There's no real safe way of locking it to your bike.
