I just bought a WD Black 1tb because my older WD 5000AAKS 500gb is getting fairly low. Would it be worth it to run windows and games from the wd black? If so, how would I go about doing that? Do I place the new hd as my primary one on bios and then just clean up the older hd after transferring over the data files?

If you're running SATA it really doens't matter where it's placed on your motherboard. As for games and what not, I'd leave 500gb with the windows install and games, then use the TB black for storage and downloading.
Currently I run
250gb - Has windows/games install thats it
500gb - Overflow Storage
1000gb - Main storage
Yes... I have a lot of movies.

Western digital harddrives
Did your new hard drive come with a support disk, containing WD's Life Guard Tools? You can get a download from WD's website if you didn't get a support disk. Life guard tools will make it possible for you to copy everything from your old drive onto your new drive. Then run your computer from just the new drive to make sure everything is operating correctly. Reconnect your old drive to your computer as a slave drive. Reformat the old drive...presto, you've got everything on your new fast drive & an old drive to use as extra storage. I love WD's hard drives.

just got my hard drive today and used the lifetools. 17 files couldn't be copied but it said that it wouldn't interfere with the os running. Funny enough, i needed to re-edit my boot.ini file and re-install system restore. Nothing else other than that seems to be a problem, and now i can hopefully enjoy my faster hard drive. much thanks fraser
