Question about travelling to CUBA

hello all,

i am planning to goto cuba with couple of my friends. I am a canadian citizen so i am fine, but some of my friends HOLD a PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD with a PAKISTANI PASSPORT. will they require a visa to enter CUBA or they should be ok just with the PR CARD and tourist/travel card for cuba?

We tried contacting the cuban embassy to no avail ( could never get a live person to talk to)

any help would be good.

You are traveling into a Dictatorship led Communist country and I think your friends need much more official and complete answers than can be provided on a consumer deals forum. Basically, they are not Canadians and will have no protection from Canada. Call the Canadian authorities for the real answers or direction. If I was in their circumstance, I sure would not go until I had some real solid, verified information.

Who did you book the trip with? If it was a travel agent, contact them. If you booked online, see if there's a customer service number you can call. If not, contact a travel agency and explain to them that you are thinking of traveling to Cuba but you are from Pakistan with a Pakistan passport and want to know what you need. They will explain it to you. Don't tell them you already booked your trip through someone else or they wont want to help you.

Cuba isn't some big bad place that many people think it is. You're a hell of a lot safer in Cuba than you are in Dominican or Mexico. Cuba is probably the friendliest, safest place I've ever been to, and no, I'm not talking about the resorts.

i agree. its the safest place in the western hemisphere. i guess the americans made us believe..CUBA IS THE DEVIL..lol

besides..MY FRIEND HAS A PR CARD (CANADA) with a pakistani passport

i called our travel agent and told us to call the consulate....but no one ever picks up..

guess will have my friend walk in.

Didn't say that at all. I made a factual statement. Your context of that statement can be what you want. |Did I say it was unsafe? Everybody is friendly around you when you have money to spend.

You too do not read very well. I made a factual statement and you chose to draw an incorrect conclusion. Too you as well, did I say it was unsafe? Safest place int he Western Hemisphere? A bit overstated isn't it? Is that exactly the reason so may try to get off the island every day?
Hey, the Government wants you there. You spend money there, of course they will smile at you. You are almost their only source of income.
I still maintain that this is the wrong place to get facts like this for your friends. They are Pakistani's traveling on a Pakistan passport and if there are any issues at all, it is the Pakistani relationship with Cuba that will be tested, not the Canadian.

The procedure is very easy: every person going to Cuba as a tourist only needs a valid passport (it does not matter the nationality) for at least 1 month after the visit to Cuba and a tourist card (it works as a visa) that can be obtained from a travel agency when booking a trip to Cuba or bought at the airport of Toronto or Montreal here in Canada before going to Cuba. Some airlines sale the tourist cards: Cubana Airlines, Lacsa, Copa, etc. If you book a flight to Cuba with Air Canada, the card is included on the price of the plane ticket and it would be hand it to you once you are on the plane.

If you are a Canadian citizen, the valid passport to enter to Cuba is the Canadian passport, issued by Passport Canada.

Holy defensive. I didn't say you claimed Cuba was unsafe, but the wording of your post gave me that impression. I'm not reading into anything "how I want," I'm just stating Cuba is a safe place. No need to get so worked up over misinterpreting something.
