Question: Can Hauppauge TV Card Record a Show from a Rogers Digital Cable Station?

Does the Hauppauge card only record analog channels or does it record digital ones too? On any Rogers receiver?

Looks like Hauppauge doesn't have a digital card in this market yet. There is a digital tuner for the europian DVB standard from this company, but I don't think that is what is offered by Rogers. If fact at the moment Rogers doesn't offer any cable card connections... so even if you get the right kind of box (QAM) Rogers still will not authorise it.. so you're left with a few channels that are unscrambled and free.

The best shot at the moment is OTA digital... way better than cable if you can grab the signal.

You should be able to use the Hauppauge card to record anything. Just use the composite out from the Rogers box to the composite in on the Hauppauge card.

as posted by Gee or you can also plug the cable out from the cable box to the haupage in and set the haupage to record from Channel 3 or 4 depends on your cable box setting (same as your TV)

Hauppauge uses IR blaster to change the channels on the set top box.

I thought that Rogers has both digital and analog signals on cable at the same time. You should be able to record the analog.

I also use the DVICO fusion, but the USBGold version.
Allows for decoding of OTA signals in HD, but also has built-in QAM, so I'm able to output from Rogers HD box, into the S-VID In (that's the best input they have unfortunately) and record an HD channel on my Laptop.

It's cheaper to order from these guys in Toronto, than ordering up from US with shipping/taxes.

From the latest email I got from Sensuz, they are going to carry the newer RT versions as well. Something about being able to program the computer to turn on and off for recording certain shows. Kinda like having MCE features on a XP system.
