Question: How to pull over safely on highway?
Question about pulling over safely on highway.
Saw a vehicle already pulled over on a shoulder on 400 series highway by a police.
So I was wondering what is the proper/safe way to pull when pulled by a police? Not all stretch of highway have proper shoulder or wide enough shoulder (collector/express).
I assume police wouldn't pull you over right away for whatever reason but chase you and flash a light during a stretch of a highway where it is somewhat safe for both vehicles to pull over safely? If on a collector, exit to nearest ramp? Sometimes next ramp could be a long way... especially if you are on express. Plus police wouldn't stop you where there isn't enough room for driver to speed up and merge in?
Would appreciate what would be a proper safe driving when pulled over. (in case i ever do ever get pulled, hope not).

pull over on the nearest off ramp. they won't shoot you if you don't stop immediately. :p

This. They aren't dumb and will give you a chance to get off the road. I had to go farther up a busy road and pull into a parking lot to get out of heavy traffic once after being flagged, and the officer followed me in and actually thanked me for pulling in and stopping safely.
If you go Fast and Furious on them and hit the NOS in your Race Car, then you have a problem.

Never been pulled over but my friends dad has multiple times (lead foot) on a highway with no shoulders. You should acknowledge the police by either turning on your signal or 4-way flashers, reduce speed but not to a point that is hazardous (don't do 20km/h in a 100km/h zone) and just stop on the far right when it is safe to do so, or on a side street or in a parking lot.

When you do get pulled over, signal and move to the far right lane, continue until you find a safe spot to stop (ie: wide shoulder/off ramp, etc).
Just keep your signal on at all times and maintain a safe speed.
Im sure the officer will understand (and appreciate) your extra effort to look out for both of your safety.
