haven't you ever seen the "landing card" you have to fill out before you disembark at Changi airport (in .sg)?
In big, bold, RED, letters are the bottom:
DEATH IS THE PUNISHMENT FOR DRUG TRAFICKING
freaked me out the first time i saw it
good thing i'm not a drug smuggler![]()

you would probably be tried under singaporian law, however obviously you would contact the cdn embassy and as word got out Canada would come to your defence. If you have a canadian citizenship chances are Canada would come for you
edit: after reading the thread again i'm retracting my statement.. Hefty charge, and Canada doesnt condone 'crack'. If it was something a lil more petty it may go down differently_______________

anybody visiting any country can be held accountable to the laws of the country in which he is visiting. Your citizenship only provides you with the ability to contact the embassy who can assist you in having your rights (the rights in the country you are visiting, not your canadian rights) adhered to.
A canadian visiting singapore with crack, if caught, will definately be charged in singapore, most likely convicted and definately hung.Last edited by CheapScotsman; Jul 29th, 2006 at 12:20 AM.

Uh, nope. Remember that American who suffered a whole bunch of lashes from a cane for vandalizing some cars (as per Singaporean law)? If I recall, Bill Clinton himself came on TV to try and appeal his punishment and have him sent back to the USA for an American trial or something... the Singaporeans would have none of that. That was awesome!

You will be tried by the local court and local law especially when you are talking about Singapore.

One of my favorite movies deals with this subject, "Midnight Express". You should check it out.

there are a whole bunch of movies that deal with this subject, because this is really the only thing Americans are afraid of these days... being caught in a foreign country without "Uncle Sam" to watch your back.

Midnight Express was still a very good movie. Very powerful.

There was an Australian Woman last year sentenced to 20 years for importing a bag of weed into Bali. I think she got a death sentence reduced actually...but Singapore is really serious about this stuff.

Singapore is one of those countries that when I go, I ensure that my flight itinerary does not include a connection in the US. This is because of the TSA's ridiculous 'leave your luggage unlocked' rule. I'm not concerned about what disappears from my bag while in transit, but rather what can get put in it.

i think she claimed someone stuffed the drugs in her backpack. but wouldn't that suck? if some ******* just did that to you and you got sentenced to death?
