1. yes
2. better
Though that could be said for just about any certification.
I think the pmp is one of the best certificates you can get.

Question for PMP Certification.
1. Is that something that is important for career advancement??
2. How do you compare a person with and without pmp certification? Is it worth the time of getting it?
Thanks.

The question's too generic to be answered accurately.
The PMP would be worthless for someone who doesn't manage large-scale projects. It's also worthless without a significant amount of experience._______________

If you are looking to get into a PMO, then it's useful....if not then the PMP is nothing more than just a 3letter word on your resume.

the PMP designation isn't really easy to attain. It requires you to not only follow through with their exams, but requires multiple years (approximately 3 years) worth of project management experience. Which means you would have to essentially find a job that is recongized by PMI and offers the experience they want to see. Typically it involves small to large scale projects, where you are in the lead role. So if you are not currently in a career that offers these opportunities to you, I think it would be hard for someone to find a job that does (mainly due to the lack of experience in PM).
