Personally, I think bumping a thread is dumb and a waste of bandwidth. I understand the need because this board is crazy and moves faster than most cars on the road.
But, if you are going to bump a thread, try to say something usefull. Reading bump is a waste of time. Make a joke, anything.

Question re: BST
Is there a "questions" forum? I figure people who can answer my question are most likely here anyway.
What's the rule with immediate replies that "bump" a thread right after your own bump? Is that second one considered your 2nd within a 24 hour period?
I know that strictly speaking, it's ALL bumps but it seems like a waste if someone decides to come along and respond to all BST threads just as they're bumped.
Thanks

Well if you've posted recenlty just edit your last post. It's easier and cleaner that way.
Either that or you can respond to the seller/buyer via PM.

The purpose of bumping is so that more users can see your post, it's not like everyone sees every post at all times :P
Anyway, maybe my question wasn't very clear:
Say I were WTB something, and i bumped my own thread. If someone else bumps it again very soon after, does that use up my max of 2 bumps per 24 hour period? i.e. I wouldn't be allowed to bump it again until 24 hours after my own post.
Certainly the other bump doesn't increase the exposure to the thread, so it's a disadvantage.

Ahh, I think I see what you're asking.
No people replying to your post doesn't take up any of your 2 bumps a day. However if you respond to the question, that would take up a bump. So if a bunch of people are asking questions you shouldn't be repeatadly responding to answer the questions.

No it does not. The 2 bump rule means that you can post 2 new replies per 24 hour period. If you answer a question, that still counts as a bump if its a new reply as it gets bumped in the process.
Other people can reply as often as they wish and that does not affect how many times you can reply in a day.
Edit: Arg, Carnage beat me by 2 minutes, man, I must be typing slow.
