Questions about vacuums

Hi, looking at buying my parents a new vacuum. They have one of those Dirt Devil bagless vacuums, which is a little heavy for them to move around. It's also starting to breakdown and not work properly. Need something mostly for tiled flooring, floating floor and a couple of carpet rugs.

When are usually good times for vacuum deals? And what's a "good deal" price range for something that may be light and very good quality? Thanks

Dyson: Lightweight and decent power

Miele: Powerful, quieter, more costly because of filter/bag replacement (though provides the benefit of less dust being released in the air)

PS. The Miele bags hold a lot! They are like “black holes!” We’ve gone through like only 5bags in like 3 years. Still haven’t gone through the 8pack that we were given at purchase.

However, one of those “cordless” Dyson’s may be best for your parents situation.

Just make sure you check out the new models (or what’s in the pipeline) as Dyson is going “all-in” with developing their “cordless” models (abandoning there corded line) which should make for some good innovations.
