In most cases need to fund it with $100,000.

But can someone clarify about the TFSA transfer option? (check terms and conditions at bottom of the link) How much can a TFSA account have by now? It's been out for a few years. Most at $5,000 per year and more recently $5,500. Is it around $30,000? This makes the offer almost as good as those who signed up for the National Bank offer from the summer!

Open and fund an account with $100,000 and receive iPad mini...
Considering the time value of money, this deal is cold.

Do you even know what that means? You are free to hold the same stuff as you would. The only difference after 6 months and sure 20 minutes of paperwork is that you have a new iPad mini in your hands! The last I checked, those were worth $279 Canadian! If you don't transfer your account or open one using this offer, you get nothing ($0 value).

Do people with 100k to invest really switch around for these deals?
I keep wondering Who is the target market for this of deals.

Extremely cold deal. I'll take my 100k, buy actions, make 0.003% profits and then go buy an iPad Mini. It's like saying, buy a Ferrari and will give you an iPhone...

Could you post where one can buy an Ipad mini for $3? That would likely make you an RFD hero.

Agree this deal sucks.

I hear ya there buddy. For the hassle of transferring $100,000, and possibly facing fees if bringing it from another bank, it's just not worth it for what is being offered. Most likely a first gen 16GB iPad Mini. Don't think I'd even really consider it for a 128GB iPad Air 2. Although for that kind of money this is what they should be offering at the minimum.

Well, 100 000$ * 0.003 = 300$. I wanted to be that hero, but today I can't :(

I think I wasn't clear when I talked about 100 000$ in action and not 100 000 actions.

The National Bank promo was MUCH better than this one. You were required to open a trading account with them, complete at least one trade & keep the balance there for at least 3 months. Expecting my Ipad Mini to show up anytime now :)

Sure but .003% is 1/100 of .003 or .00003.

Math is hard.

Hmm, compared to BMO and Scotia Itrade offers this is pretty cold. I'd much rather get $250 cashback +250 off trades, or $500 back then an ipad that's been around $259.99 retail.

How was it any better? I think almost the same. It's 6 months not 3 months
