Quicken Premier 5 year - Free

Deal Link:
Not sure how long this will last OR if Quicken is up to some trick here. But I guess no harm in creating an account and availing this offer.

Reason: Not appropriate
Thread Summary
Beware.
1. This is probably a pricing error.
2. Even if it's not, it's the US Version and won't work in Canada.

This is for the American version, not sure if this will work with Canadian banks and our investment system (RRSP vs 401k, etc.).

Indeed a strange one since it is normally $ 67 / year. I signed up, it let me download the software (including choosing between Windows and Mac) and received this confirmation message:

Thank you for your Quicken purchase. Your Quicken Premier has been successfully activated on 2/4/2018. You have an active membership to Quicken Premier that will renew automatically on 2/4/2023 at the then current price (plus any applicable taxes).

Membership: Premier
End Date: 2/4/2023

Auto-renew: Enabled
Renewal Date 2/4/2023

Well....I tried purchasing it again and it extended my membership by another 5 years! I would imagine this can go on and on until Quicken audits their accounts.
Nevertheless, I would not suggest abusing the system :-)

I also think Quicken will clear this up this week. This is an impossible deal.

Boo! When I login to my Quicken account the place where it should have an offer for 5 gigs of dropbox storage isn't showing up. I need a little extra space on dropbox so I will try installing the windows software as the instructions say you get the offer from within the Windows software from my reading.

If that doesn't work I guess I will call them up to complain. "I took advantage of your 5 year free offer of Quicken Premium by signing up with a fake name/CC and US address but I can't get my free 5 gigs on Dropbox" LOL

It won't. US versions can't download transactions from Canadian banks. (You might be able to download in CSV or QIF, etc. and import. but that's hardly convenient.)

@OP, where did you get this link?

The normal link to Quicken Premier shows "$67.49/yr $74.99/yr Discounted price is for first year only"

I didn't actually try doing it but it does list some Canadian banks.

Those are the Canadian banks that have US operations and offer services there, presumably.

Followup: This seems to be the full version with 5 year subscription. Note that it's a 275MB download (Windows.)

FWIW I was able to "buy" the US 5-year with an expired prepaid Visa card using an arbitrary US address. (I would never use a regular postpaid credit card that could be tied to the real moi.)

Make sure to turn off auto-renew!
Few credit cards have expiry dates 5 years into the future so I doubt auto-renew would work regardless.

Right. People shouldn't confuse TD Bank (US) with TD/CT (Canada).

Also if you use this to track investments, note that the US version isn't going to follow Canadian tax rules (e.g. capital gains tax calculations) or recognize stuff like RRSPs and TFSAs.
