Here's one option:
Zalman VNF100 Aluminum Heatpipe Passive Video Card GPU Cooler W/ BGA Ramsinks
Costs ~$43. Supposedly supports the GeForce 8600 series. I don't know how well it works though.

Quiet cooler for 8600GT OC?
I just finished building my new comp
i bought an BFG 8600GT OC
everything in my computer is pretty silent
(P182 case...)
but the 8600GT OC's fan screams loudly as i expected
what aftermarket options do i have for this card?
i also plan to OC it a bit further so it will have to stay cool too

This one should fit...
http://www.directcanada.com/products...CTIC%20COOLING
...because Inno3D makes a version of the 8600GT with the Accelero S1 pre-installed.
http://www.inno3d.com/products/graph...ddr3_acs1m.htm
I'd ziptie a quiet 80mm fan to it if overclocking though.

Hm...that's interesting. On the Inno3D page, the product is called the iChiLL 8600GT DDR3 Accelero S1M. Knowing this, one would assume that the card uses the Accelero S1 cooler (like the one you linked to at DC). However, if you look below the image at the description, it states the card uses an Accelero S2 cooler.

Edit: iChiLL 8600GT DDR3 Accelero S2M?

cool thanks
hmm i need to figure out which one it is that fits the BFG's 8600GT OC now
i also found this
http://www.inno3d.com/products/graph...8600gt_nv6.htm
so i guess NV Silencer 6 should work too?
except i cant find it
also according to arctic cooling, S2 doesnt support 8600GT so maybe inno3d's card is using a non-nvidia-reference design?

Yes, it will work with the BFG 8600GT for sure on the 5th mounting hole.
I found a guy here who has done it. 5th or 6th post down:

thanks
funny thing is, the moment Vista starts and loads the drivers, the card becomes much more quiet
the fan spins down
im guessing the thermal management isnt built into the card but into the driver itself
