Scored an 8700 in 3DMARK 2001 w/the following rig:
Shuttle SK41G, XP 2400+, 512MB PC2700, Seagate 120GB 8MB, Leadtek TV2000XP, Radeon 8500 64MB w/3.6ns RAM
Note1: Never used 3DMARK before.
Note2: This is my dedicated HTPC/PVR rig.
Note3: First videocard, as I'm not into gaming, lol.
How did I do, and how can I improve?

Lol... gotcha
Hmm, wonder what the OC'ing is like w/this card. Maybe I can break 10k.

Good luck...i tried the same thing with my setup a few months back
AXP2000(stock speed)
Asus A7v333
1gig DDR333
8500LE 128mb (@300/300)
40gb Maxtor
Regular 3DMark2001= ~9300
Once i oc'd my cpu to 1.8ghz, 144mhz fbs and the Radeon @ 310/310 and got a socre of 10218, but unfortunately it was not stable completely.
To answer your question my R8500LE can oc to 300/300 on stock cooling, so you should give it a try using Riva Tuner or other oc programs.

Why bother us here? Use the online result browser provided by Futuremark.

Did you notice any stuttering? I've been stress testing it with certain games like CS, and have noticed some freezing every 30secs or so. Any ideas?
And btw, great results.

Sorry, i didn't have stuttering problems...my comp would just crash after an hr or so of gaming. The only thing i can think of is the display driver...did you try the newest version?

Using OMEGA drivers, but will now try catalyst 4.7 drivers.
Maybe some BIOS things are wacky, oh wellz.

I get 10500 with a Sapphire 9100 w/4ns ram ( clocked at 263/263). Running Omega 4.1 on a Barton 2500 @3200 w 512MB PC3200

whats the difference between Omega and catalyst drivers (other then that the cat comes from ATI)? I currently use catalyst.

ATI 8500 64MB 275/275: 8700
EVGA NVIDIA FX5200 256MB 250/400: 6500
HTPC wise, the NVIDIA had a better TV-OUT and much better TV-OUT functions like dual view, clone view, horizontal view.
For games, ATI all the way. For an HTPC, the NVIDIA all the way.
PS: For people who do not care, simply do not respond.

hymm i used to get around 9000 with my 8500le 128 meg(stock cooling) at 315/315 xp 1800(not overclocked) with very tight timings like 2 2 2 6 on some 2700 ddr. Wonder what I would get with my mobile2500@2.5gig 208x12 at 2.5 3 3 8(still the same samsung ddr 2700 lol).P.S overheated card has some lag feel to it(like the stutter) but usually you'll see artifacts first. Possibly try venting your case better if your not seeing artifacts.

Yeap, I can get 9000 w/stock settings 275/275... at 315/315 i'm sure I can improve
