Ram for E6600 high-end system?
Hey all,
I'm trying to decide which ram to get for my e6600 system. all other parts will be high end. evga 680i mobo. will be oc'ing
corsair dominator pc2-6400 seems ok, but it's c4d so Promos IC = no OC
corsair 9136 - high end, good stuff but pricey
other brands pc2-8000 (ocz plat/gold, etc)
Any input appreciated!
ordering from NCIX when it fixes

No, Big Typhoon is starting to become crappy comparing to others.
Get the following if you can, they cost about $45 at NCIX:
(In order, starting from the best at #1)
1. Tuniq Tower
2. Thermalright Ultra 120 (Or was it Thermaltake, i dunno)
3. Scythe Ninja Plus
^^All available at NCIX (Tuniq Tower might be sold out now though), got a Tuniq Tower from them before i upgraded to Watercooling then Phasecooling^^_______________HI

Umm.. I think 600w is enough... 850w is too much?
Anyways, for the coolers i listed, you can add in a delta fan that blows ALOT of air... Zalman isnt as good anymore, IMO._______________HI

I wonder if watercooling is easy to do...
I am considering just doing WC if it's not much trouble. Case is TJ09

My setup with Fortron 550w:
eVGA 7950GT with custom cooling (ramsinks, dual quiet fans)
E6300 @ 3.6ghz (Can reach 3.86ghz safe but rather not risk it)
Phase Cooling for CPU
P5LD2 Rev 2.0 modded
2GB Corsair Ram DDR800mhz
8 Quiet LED case fans (2x120 @back, 2x120 up top, 2x120 under HDD, 2x80 @front)
4HDD (2 raptor, 2 storage)
1 DVDR Drive
1 CDR Drive
2 dual blue sound sensitive cathodes_______________HI

850 is fine.... but you do have alot of crap, lol.
I have close to the same on a 600w... but only 2 hdds...
water is not worth the risk, but it is very quiet... but it doesnt do much for performance.
Like I said, my big typhoon has me going at 3.6 gig, on air... 50% overclock.... 24/7_______________

Theres no way a E6300 can run 3.4ghz + on air. (Unless you live in the Arctic or your house has no heater or something and have a 0C ambient temperature)
Watercooling is not risky at all, just dont plug the power to your motherboard when you turn your system on the first time and none of your hardwares will be damaged if theres a leak. But if you're new to hardware and such, then dont get watercooling and get a really good air cooling but dont expect too much overclock._______________HI

Oh ahah no wonder, my E6300 runs 3.6ghz stable on watercooling and even better on phase cooling. My watercooling was cheaper than the price difference between e6300 and e6600, and i can use the same kit for my future upgrades.

I currently have a Forton 700w Epsilon
I just don't think it can handle dual GTX + overclocking the E6600. As for water, I'm very familiar with computer hardware I've just never looked into WC before. I'm planning to just stay without it as the GPU is most important to me and replacing the heatsinks would cost a ton. I think I'll wait until next gen to WC.
Planned system:
E6600
OCZ plat XTC PC2-8000
eVGA 680i
raptor 150g boot
500gx1 storage
250gx2 storage
74g raptor as storage I guess (or raid with the 150?). I have it already.
Benq pata dvd-rw
X-fi
88gtx sli
Tj09 with 5x120mm fan (slow speed)
PSU - Still undecided. I'm not sure if the 850w seasonic or others can handle this for sure or not. Planning to Oc heavy if I'm able to
