Agreed. I have 50K BAA points sitting there for over a year wish I hadn't converted the last time RBC had the 50 percent promo.
Can you switch them back? What could you do with 50K in Avion?

well you can actually get a round trip to London from Vancouver for 50K BAA points.
All you'd need to pay would be the taxes.

I haven't been able to find any decent trips from YYZ even when I search 6 months out. Availability just isn't there.

Last I checked BA's surcharges for Canada to London are north of 600 on economy and 1k in business class roundtrip. Not worth it, even for business class

So is it better just to keep it as RBC points? I have about 100K of points.

hmm tempting.. have over 850k sitting with avion, and just redeem my points on BA in time before they expire for flights.

Just not sure if I should jump the gun and keep some Avios in the account for those just in case trip or wait till the next 1.5 promo (who knows how long the wait is this upcoming year)

If you have substantial Avion points, i rather booking Premium Economy under the dollar thresholds instead of award tickets. Much better availability, and earn normal miles on it too
How do book under dollar threshold? and is it possible to book in Business instead of Premium Econ?

I haven't really touched any of my 200k BAA points except an upgrade to First Class from HKG to YVR.. but still used more often than the Avion points which I've never used.

Rather than struggle to locate free flights, I use my BA Avios points for a discount on cash flights.

Can you give an example of how this works?

Does anyone have any inside information if they will ever offer 50% bonus again. Last year in the summer it was 30% off and during Christmas it was 50%, however the last two bonus offerings were only 30%.

If they are not bringing back 50% I am thinking of just converting all my Avion points at 30% and then cancelling the RBC Avion for good as I don't find it that competitive anymore with the reduction in bonus and the higher points needed with BA.

Is it time to cut the cord on this card?
