I used mine to buy hotels.com gift card when RBC was running a sale at 15% off. So 25k is worth a minimum $250 but with I've seen sales up to 25% off so can be worth $333+.

How are points calculated? Is it $1/per point earned? That means it take you 25k$ to get 25k points?

Best bang for your buck for Avion is to transfer to other rewards such as Avios and WestJet. RBC often holds sales/bonus redemption events; last one was Black Friday for 20% extra points when transferring to other reward programmes.

Yes. I usually cancel cards 6 months after approval, assuming I used all my points.

What do you mean? Get Scotia Momentum last week, and get the Avion this week.

Thanks, just applied and I was approved instantly with a fairly high limit. Now to reach that 1k threshold to get the extra 10k points.

I shop at Hudson Bay here and there so I think I'll cash out using the bay's rewards program.... I can get $250 at the bay for the 25k points.
