RBC5 APC SmartUPS 700 Battery - Any use for an old battery?
I replaced some batteries in my APC SmartUPS 700 UPS and ran some meter readings on the old battery. One measured 0.18 volts, and the other measured 8.58 volts. The battery I have is as follows:

I don't have a need for the battery and was wondering if it is of any use to anyone? I figured you could always put the good battery into a UPS and top up the power back to the 12 volt level.
Does anyone take the batteries back and give you some $$ or something for it (maybe properly dispose of it?).

I just ordered a pair of APC RBC5 batteries today through work - $34 each. The CP1270 a very common UPS battery type, I've seen them in Belkin, IBM and Tripp Lite units.
Too bad you're in Ontario or I might've taken it off your hands.

I should be more constructive ... if you don't find a way to "resuscitate" your old battery ... please make the small effort to dispose of it properly.
I know that Home Depot and places like that accept batteries for disposal._______________
